This article will guide you to set up Pro Tools with Groovesetter for multi-track uncompressed audio input and output.

Refer to the following two articles for help with setting up your input and output devices:

When starting or joining a session, you have the ability to select the number of virtual channels to be used during your session. These virtual channels will be in addition to any input and output channels available from your input and output device.

Session Settings

As a session creator, you can select up to 8 virtual input and output channels.

All groovers invited to a session can join the session with a maximum of 2 virtual input and output channels.

To use the Groove-link audio routing matrix for connecting the audio signals to and from Pro Tools, make sure you launch Pro Tools after your Groovesetter Session is active.

Configuring Pro Tools and Groovesetter for remote recording

Click the menu for Setup>Playback to open the Playback Engine selection window and select Jackrouter from the list.

NOTE: On Apple computers, you can use Aggregate Devices combining your audio interface with virtual drivers such as Loopback or Blackhole. This allows you to select the aggregate device as your Groovesetter session input and output device, and use the same aggregate device in your ProTools session.

After selecting jackrouter as your playback engine, Pro Tools will reset, and show up on your Groove-link audio routing matrix with the corresponding number of virtual input and output channels.

Connecting Pro Tools to Groove-link audio routing matrix with virtual channels for recording multi-channel uncompressed audio.

Open your Pro Tools project. After you assign the input and output channels for each track in your Pro Tools session, you can route audio to and from the track using the corresponding Groove-link routing tile.

NOTE: Your Groovesetter session may crash after you start Pro Tools if the input and output device set within Pro Tools is the same as the input and output device used in your active Groovesetter session. If your session crashes:

- Close Groovesetter

- Open Pro Tools and select a playback in Pro Tools that is different from the one you intend to use for your session.

- Open Groovesetter and start a new session

- Once your session is active, select jackrouter as your playback engine in Pro Tools

AUDIO ROUTING

Along the top of the Groovesetter audio routing matrix are the sound sources arriving from Pro Tools, shown as incoming signals. These correspond to Pro Tools output channels.

Sound Recipients are the channels sending audio to Pro Tools. These correspond to Pro Tools input channels.

The Groove-link audio routing matrix enables you to record multiple signals arriving from multiple groovers or other sound sources on separate tracks in Pro Tools, as well as to route multi-track outputs from Pro Tools to any sound recipient connected to your session.
